I'm a Google fan, obviously they have some decent products like Adsense and Analytics, but I hate how Gmail works, and the whole hassle of having a Gmail account and using all the different interfaces just isn't very user-friendly. Twitter is a hit because it was an original idea and it was produced in an easy-to-use package that didn't require you set up another e-mail address to use it, first. Buzz will be an interesting product for Gmail users, like you said, but it won't catch on simply because it's too late in the game. Google used to be innovative, now they're just trying to catch up (example - Google Checkout). They should focus on improving search and making products to partner WITH Twitter, not try to compete with it.

I like google but I don't want it to be the giant of all things webby. In fact, google scares me a little bit. I think google's got about as much chance of threatening twitter as twitter has of being the world's primary search engine.

More than a year later, Google Buzz has still failed to get a grip on the market share dominated by twitter. Stick to search, Google.
